About the Author

Matt Chamberlain is a distinguished, award recognized educator, administrator and author with over 30 years of experience dedicated to fostering student success, ethical leadership, and academic excellence. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History, with an Education Minor, from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from the John F. Kennedy School of Education, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the John F. Kennedy University School of Law. Additionally, he earned his Social Science Single Subject Teaching Credential from John F. Kennedy University and an Administrative Credential from California State University, East Bay.

Throughout his career, Matt has served in a variety of educational leadership roles, including teacher, athletic coach, assistant principal, summer school principal, site principal, director and assistant superintendent. He has been honored as a significant change agent by the 32nd District PTA as "Principal of the Year." In addition he has earned the ACSA Region 6 "Secondary School Principal of the Year" and "Personnel Administrator of the Year" in 2025.

An active and dedicated member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), Matt has held numerous leadership positions in Region 6 including president, charter president, board member, council representative, curriculum council member, and state leadership delegate. His contributions also include being a conference presenter for the California Consortium of Independent Schools (CCIS), ACSA Region 6 Leadership Conference, California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA) as well as being a commission team member and visiting chairperson for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Recognized for his collaborative leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to ethical decision-making, Matt is a passionate advocate for integrity-based management practices. He prioritizes student well-being and academic growth while championing innovative approaches to 21st-century education. A proven, bold leader, he inspires colleagues to challenge outdated practices and embrace transformative instructional strategies.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Matt resides in the East Bay with his wife of 24 years. Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys college football (Go Bears!), gardening, and unwinding with his favorite streaming shows.
